BEREAVEMENT FUND

This Fund was established to support surviving family members of Atlanta firefighters that made the ultimate sacrifice.  Financial assistance is provided for funeral arrangements, flights, lodging, food and other travel expenses related to memorial services of fallen firefighters.  This Fund also finances a recurring remembrance gift during the holiday season every year to the family of line-of-duty-death firefighters.

HEALTH & WELLNESS FUND

Atlanta firefighters frequently encounter extreme conditions that expose them to higher risks of injury, cancer, P.T.S.D., and other life-threatening illnesses. In recognition of these challenges, APFF established a dedicated Fund aimed at providing financial assistance to Atlanta firefighters when faced with such difficulties. The assistance offered can be either one-time or ongoing, depending on the severity of each situation. Firefighters can submit a hardship letter with a request for benefits, which can be authorized by the board immediately and supplemented through fundraisers tailored to each incident.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND

The quality of firefighters is directly proportional to the quality of their training. During emergencies, firefighters often rely on the hands-on training they have received until they acquire sufficient on-the-job experience to complement their training. To diversify the education and enhance the career of Atlanta firefighters, APFF established this Fund to send them to the best-in-class training programs across the United States. This approach enables them to offer the Atlanta community cutting-edge services while increasing the safety and efficiency of their crew.

ALLIANCE FUND

The purpose of this Fund is to narrow the divide between employers and employees. The fire department is an excellent workplace, but sometimes the resources provided by local budgets may fall short in equipping firefighters to be the best employees possible. By providing equipment, affordable housing, furnishings, and transportation to Atlanta firefighters, this Fund can supplement the department's budget. In addition, fellowship events are organized to foster connections between employees, supervisors, and community members, while also raising funds and awareness for the benefit of firefighters and the community.
